Choosing The Right Type and Number of Roof Windows

Velux roof windows are designed to create a unique environment within the attic, while providing the right style and size of window to suit the pitch of your roof. For instance, the lower the pitch, the longer the window needs to be to get the best possible view.

Velux roof windows can be coupled together side by side and / or one above the other to provide additional light and create an attractive effect. As a general rule, you need to provide glazed areas equivalent to 10% of the room’s floor area to achieve adequate natural daylighting. The overall effect is usually improved by increasing this ratio to around 20% and also by several smaller windows rather than one or two large ones.

Panes & Finishes

Advanced warm edge pane technology enhances insulation performance, helping to keep the room cooler in summer and reduces energy loss. There is a choice of glazing options available to meet your every need. All velux panes are AA fire rated and meet current ‘U’ value requirements.

All timber Velux roof windows are supplied in TOPfinish™, multi-stage process with a waterbased colourless varnish which protects and finishes the internal surfaces of the roof window.

EVERfinish™ consists of moulded polyurethane with a white varnished finish surrounding a timber core for strength and insulation.

Linings

Velux linings are precision-made to ensure the perfect joint between the window and the interior wall.

They are delivered as a complete kit including a additional vapour barrier and all necessary fixings. Supplied in white laminate, it guarantees maximum light reflection, while the scratch proof, easy to clean surface ensures no further preparation is required.
