Stairs are a crucial consideration when designing a Loft Conversion, we’ll be happy to suggest what will be the most appropriate for you!
The types include traditional, bespoke stairs matching the existing style and dimensions of the existing staircase, Space Saver Stairs, Adjustable Stairs, Spiral Stairs, or a loft ladder for a loft room, and will be fully compliant with building regulations.
Traditional Stairs

Space Saver Stairs
Spacesaving Stairs are the perfect solution for access to the loft when space is at a premium. Taking up only 1.5m (59") of floor space and manufactured using only the highest quality pine. The Airedale suits a floor to floor height of up to 2.8m (9' 2") and complies fully to the rise and going requirements of the Building Regulations (approved document KI 1992 edition) for spacesaving stairs. Supplied in kit form and simple to assemble. Prepared ready to accept any chosen finish. A very cost effective solution.
Adjustable Stairs
Easy and quick installation the Space Saver Staircase stands solidly regardless of the angle. the bottom ends of the strings are rounded and the treads are adjustable. The strings are pre drilled at the back edge of the stair allowing the treads to be levelled and for the stair to be installed at various angles. Maximum comfort and security - handrail available. the handrail can be mounted on either side of the staircase. Requires a ceiling opening size of only 120 x 70 cm Number of treads 12 Width 700mm Tread rise = 195mm Suitable for ceiling heights of up to 2750 mm Also available in Mahogany and Southern yellow pine.
Spiral Stairs
The Aurora spiral staircase is supplied with solid wooden treads, tubular balusters and either tubular steel or single piece wooden handrail. All wooden stairs are manufactured in either Beech or Teak as standard unless otherwise stated. Stairs can be left natural or stained to a colour of your choice. Other woods available at a premium. Oak, Walnut and Maple, subject to suitability. All metal stairs and metal parts of wooden stairs are powder coated and available in lots of colours. Spiral stairs are available from 1000mm diameter up to and including 2000mm diameter in 100mm increments, except where stated. Certain models may be available in excess of 2000mm diameter.
Loft Ladder Stairs
Suitable for occasional loft access only. Loft ladders are the most frequently used types of ceiling staircase because of their simplicity, functionality, aesthetic look, and price. Reach heights safely with a three-section loft ladder made from lightweight aluminium and with an extra long handrail for safe climbing. Ladder stretches up to 3m in height so there shouldn't be a part of the house you can't reach! Also features wide non-slip 'D' rungs for comfort and security and unique friction guides for smooth and easy operation. Suitable for DIY installation. Includes all components and easy to follow instructions. Floor to floor heights up to 3.0m Minimum hatch size of 0.406m wide x 0.508m long Maximum safe load: 100kg (15.7 stones) Minium clearance 760mm Minium storage space 1.18m
